Terms of Use
1. Agreement
Toll is licensed to you under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which governs your use of the app and takes precedence over anything on this page. The sections below explain the parts of Toll that the standard agreement does not describe: what tokens are, what the app restricts, how purchases and the trial work, and where your data lives.
The app is published by appxlab. Questions go to support@appxlab.io.
2. What the app does
Toll is a self-control tool. It lets you choose apps on your own iPhone to place behind a barrier, earn tokens by completing tasks you set yourself, and spend those tokens to open the apps you chose.
Toll is not a blocker. You can always get through by paying tokens, by using a weekly free pass, by deselecting the apps in Settings, or by deleting the app.
Tokens have no monetary value. They cannot be bought with money, sold, transferred, exchanged, redeemed, or cashed out. They are an accounting unit inside the app and nothing more. Unspent tokens expire daily by design.
3. Your responsibilities
You agree to use the app only on a device you own or control, and only for yourself.
Do not use Toll to restrict, monitor, or control another person's device. The app has no capability to do so — no accounts, no pairing, no remote configuration — and any attempt to repurpose it that way is outside these terms.
You are responsible for the apps you choose to limit and for the consequences of limiting them. Which brings us to:
4. Important limitation — do not rely on Toll for anything urgent
Toll restricts access to apps you selected. This can include apps you may need in an emergency.
You choose which apps to limit, and you can lift any restriction at any time. But you should not place behind a toll any app you might need urgent access to — phone, messages, maps, medical or safety apps.
We are not responsible for any consequence of you being unable to reach an app you chose to restrict. Use judgement about what you toll.
5. Health data
If you use measured verification, the app reads figures from Apple Health to confirm a task. These figures are read, compared to your target, and discarded.
Toll is not a medical device and provides no medical advice. It makes no health claims, offers no diagnosis, and no output should be treated as health guidance. If you have health concerns, consult a qualified professional.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
The app is free to download. Some features require a premium purchase.
6.1 Products
| Product | Type | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Lifetime | One-time purchase | Charged once. Does not renew |
| Yearly | Auto-renewable subscription | Charged yearly until cancelled |
| Monthly | Auto-renewable subscription | Charged monthly until cancelled |
Current prices are shown in the app before purchase, in your local currency.
6.2 Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings, not in Toll. We cannot cancel a subscription for you. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
6.3 Trial
New installs receive a 14-day period with premium features enabled. This is provided by the app itself and is not an Apple introductory offer or a subscription free trial. It requires no payment method, starts nothing, and charges nothing. When it ends, the app returns to the free tier and your existing history remains visible.
6.4 Payment and refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple's policies, not by us. Requests go through Apple's support, and we have no ability to grant or refuse one.
6.5 Restoring
If you reinstall or use a new device, "Restore purchases" in the app recovers a previous purchase made with the same Apple Account.
Note that Toll does not sync your data between devices. Restoring recovers your entitlement, not your tasks, balance or ledger.
7. Your data
Your tasks, balance, ledger and photos are stored on your device. We do not hold a copy, and we cannot recover them if you lose or reset your phone.
Full detail is in the Privacy Policy: privacy
8. Availability
We aim to keep the app working but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. The app depends on Apple frameworks and services outside our control, and a change by Apple may affect or remove functionality.
We may modify or discontinue features. Where a change materially affects a paid feature we will say so in the release notes.
9. Disclaimer and liability
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind to the extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app, including loss arising from being unable to access a restricted app, from tokens expiring, or from data lost when a device is lost or reset.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
